Q: Why don't you put up an FAQ?

A: Alright.

Q: Why did you put up an FAQ?

A: I'm frequently asked questions.

Q: What is this story thing?

A: It's just a bit of self-indulgence I suppose. I live inside my own head most of the time and I occasionally have the compulsion to share what I find in there.

Q: Did you get the characters from a movie or book? Do you role-play them?

A: No...I made them up. I don't role play them either, but it's my understanding that some other people do.

Q: Why did you change your characters from 'furries' to humans?

A: In simplest terms, because I felt the characters would be better conveyed as humans than as animals.
Don't take my criticism of my old artwork to mean I have something against furry art in general. I make fun of it because it's old and, well, because I can.

Q: Is there a comic of the story?

A: No. Any comic pages you might happen upon were done for the fun of it. If I had more time on my hands, maybe I'd do it in graphic novel format, but I don't....not now anyway.

Q: What media do you use in your art?

A: When I'm not painting in Photoshop, I use primarily watercolors, gouache, colored pencil (Prismacolors) and occasionally acrylic.

Q: What in tarnation is gouache?? How is it pronounced?

A: It's paint -- similar to watercolor only a little more opaque. Once upon a time, before the days of digital color, it was used to paint animation cells. You can find Designer's Gouache at any art supply store worth its salt.
It sounds rather like gwosh or go-osh depending on who you ask.

Q: Where'd you learn to draw and paint?

A: A teacher named Jo-anne taught me a lot in the way of technique...getting a handle on skills, though, is up to the individual. It requires a good deal of practice. I've been drawing since I was but a wee lass.

Q: What influences you?

A: Ohh...stuff. Where to begin? I'm an eclectic reader and I'll pick up books on just about any subject or of any genre. I have a collection that ranges from medieval warfare, to Celtic history, to traditional animation, to psychology, to veterinary horse care...and so forth.
I find I'm drawn to the Transcendentalists in literature and to the Pre-Raphaelites as well...a lot of that reflects in my artwork.

But other artists -- the likes of Bev Doolittle, Luis Royo, Alan Lee, Brian Froud, Bill Watterson -- have had an impact on me over the years too.
I could go on for days about this, but for both our sakes, I think I'll stop now.

Q: Where do you get character costume ideas?

A: Strangely, a lot of people seem to be under the impression that my costume designs are historically accurate. This is not the case. Really, they've just evolved over time along with the characters. I try to keep their costumes in the medieval vein, but I don't truly adhere to anything but my own tastes.
Historical reference can be helpful, but to those dabbling in fantasy, I'd suggest perusing a number of references from a number of time periods, then using and building on what most appeals to you.

Q: Do you do commissions/requests/art trades?

A: Nein! Er, that is, not as a general rule. It's not because I'm mean...I mean, I am mean, but that's not why I don't do commission work. It's mostly owing to a lack of spare time. Apologies.
